What His Facebook Page Says About Him

Me Being A Guy Can Testify To SOME of This

3DAYRULE.COM -- For many, Facebook has become an online social resume. It’s a useful tool to you stalkerazzis out there to get into the psyche of that cute cubical mate Corporateer sitting across from you at work, or “search” (read: stalk) that cute single Promoter you met out at Playhouse last night.

Whatever your purpose in using Facebook, we are coming up with a guide to interpreting what a guy’s facebook page says about him. We’ll give you a sneak peak of what our research has revealed below, with more to come in the next couple of days!

For now, let’s start with the profile picture and a guy’s status.

The Profile Picture:

We’ve decided there are two types of picture that men use: those that reflect who they are, and those that reflect who they want you to think they are.

In the former category is the run-of-the mill, standard profile picture. No Photoshop. No awkward pouty-mouth pose. No slutty girls. Just him. Guys who opt for this type of picture are usually down-to-earth, like the Straight Edge or Corporateer. He knows that a picture is worth a 1000 words, and he doesn’t want Douchebag to be one of them.

In the latter category are the headshots (we get it, you’re an actor in L.A.), macho pictures (usually with nearly-naked girls involving sunglasses at night and a pouty face), or some sort of Andy Warhol-inspired Photoshop mess. These are the guys who scream “hey world, look at me, I’m way more f-ing awesome than you, and my 653 friends also think so!” Guys who opt for this type of picture are usually Douchebags, Rhinestoners, Promoters or Fratastics.

Status

Guys love to be mysterious about status. Some don’t even list a status! The nerve. For those who are brave enough to let the ladies into the mystery, the eligible bachelors (or Clooneys) will always use “Single,” even if he’s seeing someone. Besides, if you’re not married, you’re single, right?

We’ve also seen guys who are girlfriended-up or seeing someone use Facebook as a tool to signal that there’s trouble in paradise with a simple “It’s Complicated.”

If he’s a self-proclaimed funny guy (or likes to torture his lady), he may use an “Open Relationship” to let everyone know (including his lady) that he’s in a relationship but just not ready to settle down.

Finally, we’ve seen some guys list “Married to” some lucky gal on Facebook who they are not married to. We’re not quite sure why they do this since it’s a sure-fire way to scare your female Facebook followers off from asking you on a date. Maybe that’s his goal? That’s for another article.
