Woman Diagnosed With 17lb Ovarian Cyst After Months of People Thinking She Was Pregnant

How Does It Get This Big? OMG
DAILYMAIL(UK) -- A woman who was constantly approached by strangers asking when her baby was due has told of her distress after learning she had a 17 lb ovarian cyst.
When Janet Delaney went to the doctors after her stomach swelled from 32 inches to 49 inches, she was told she was suffering from irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and given medication.
However, after the medication failed to help, Janet went to the Casualty Department three times because she was in so much pain - and each time was sent away with the same diagnosis.
Eventually she insisted that the hospital carry out an ultrasound scan, when doctors discovered Mrs Delaney had an enormous cancerous ovarian cyst - which weighed over a stone in weight.
Mrs Delaney, a dental receptionist, who lives in Manchester with her husband Paul, 43, a builder, said: ‘I am disgusted that I was told so many times that this was irritable bowel syndrome.
‘I looked nine months pregnant - strangers were giving up their seat for me on the bus, asking me when my baby was due.
'There was no way that I had irritable bowel syndrome - my mother suffered from that condition and her stomach was never protruding like mine did.
‘I’m lucky that I eventually insisted on having a scan - and the cyst was eventually found before it was too late.’
