Must Try Food in Chicago #2: Aloha Eats

Last Friday, Me & The Girlfriend Tried A New Place Called Aloha Eats.
We were ‘googling’ Chicago Cheap Eats and came across this Authentic Hawaiian location on the East Side. We checked out the website and found out this is one of Obama’s favorite places to eat. It also has raving reviews from Chicago’s Hungry Hound & Yelp.

What We Ate: I highly advice you to get the “Mini Plates”. The portion is big enough to fill you up and it’s cheaper then the Big Plates. I had the Chicken Katsu (one of Obama’s Favorite Mini Plates), it’s served with a perfect texture white Rice, an unbelievable great tasting Macaroni Salad (MUST TRY), & a perfectly Crispy Fried Chicken. The combination as a whole is amazing and has now become my favorite Fried Chicken in Chicago. It’s not greasy at all. And if you love Barbecue sauce, ask for it on the side -- Use it as a dipping sauce. And No, it’s not some generic BBQ Sauce, this homemade recipe will have you licking your fingers.

She had the Mini BBQ Beef. It was good (nothing special, the chicken was better), but the Barbecue Sauce is what made it. She agrees, the Macaroni Salad is “really good – like addictive, like I was sad when it was gone…”. We also had the Spam Musubi (comes with 2 huge pieces. This is also one of Obama’s Favorite). It’s like a Sushi Roll but bigger. It’s a thick block of warm rice lightly seasoned with Teriyaki Sauce, Grilled SPAM, and it’s wrapped in a belt of dried Japanese seaweed. This was really good (we recommend you try it). To Drink, They have "made in Hawaii" Tropical Fruit Juices (canned) & free-refill fountain drinks. I had the boring Pepsi, The girlfriend loved the canned Passion Fruit Juice. Overall I give it a 9 (it’s the Katsu Chicken & the BBQ Sauce! Chicago needs to try this), the Girlfriend gives it an 7.8 (it’s a more then average spot, it’s not as cheap as we thought it would be, but it’s something you definitely should try). Parking could be tough to find, but on a cool sunny day, it doesn't matter. You can park 2-3 blocks away and enjoy the beautiful breeze of Chicago.
